Jonathan brings a wealth of experience to the firm’s Professional Responsibility and Disciplinary Proceedings practice. Serving the longest tenure in state history, Jonathan served as Disciplinary Counsel for the Supreme Court of Ohio for 16 years. He is well-versed in all aspects pertaining to the ethical responsibilities of Ohio lawyers and judges, investigations of ethical matters, defense of misconduct complaints and complex ethical issues. In addition to his extensive professional experience, Jonathan is also an adjunct professor at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law where he teaches professional responsibility. He joined Kegler Brown in 2014.

Professional Responsibility and Disciplinary Proceedings

Jonathan assists clients in every area of professional responsibility, including, but not limited to: preventative ethics counseling; expert services, including consultation and testimony; and representation of lawyers and judges in disciplinary matters. In addition to having an active caseload during his 16-year tenure as Disciplinary Counsel, Jonathan was responsible annually for approximately 2800 grievances, 1400 investigations and 45 formal complaints. This depth of experience provides Jonathan’s clients with an unparalleled level of sophistication about ethical concerns and the disciplinary process.


Jonathan has practiced civil and criminal litigation since the beginning of his career. His scope of work includes more than 70 jury trials and carries across Ohio, New Hampshire and New York, where he served in roles that include public defender, bureau chief in the District Attorney’s office, disciplinary counsel and in private practice.
