Kegler Brown’s annual Managing Labor and Employee Relations seminar will take place both in person and virtually on Thursday, April 23, 2026.

This year’s program will provide current guidance on workplace safety, federal agency updates, the use of emerging technologies, and effective management practices across multiple generations. This is one you won’t want to miss. Or,  as the kids say, it’s gonna be bussin! Attendees will have the opportunity to earn CLE and SHRM credit hours.

  From popular films to sitcoms and beyond, Hollywood has given screentime to the seemingly mundane world of workers’ compensation. This Oscar and Emmy-worthy session will explore how workplace injuries are treated on the big and small screens. Attendees will learn how to manage claims, when to investigate a reported injury further, and tips to mitigate risk. 
• 9:00 a.m. AI at Work: Practical Uses, Risks + Policy Essentials | Nicholas Bobb
  AI tools are becoming common across many workplaces, and employers must balance efficiency with legal and practical risks. This presentation will explore how AI affects hiring, monitoring, policy development, and decision-making. Attendees will gain an understanding of potential pitfalls, approaches to reducing bias, and steps to support responsible implementation within their organizations.

• 9:50 a.m. 2026 Enforcement Priorities + What Employers Should Expect | Danielle Crane
  Federal agencies continue to adjust their priorities, and this session will review the most significant recent developments. Danielle will summarize emerging enforcement themes, common trends in charges, and what employers should prepare for in the year ahead. Attendees will hear guidance on how these updates may influence workplace policies and areas where additional compliance attention may be needed.
• 10:40 a.m. Navigating Sick Time Requirements in a Flexible PTO World | Jane Sensibaugh
  As flexible and unlimited PTO policies grow in popularity, employers face increasing challenges in harmonizing those policies with the expanding patchwork of state and local paid sick leave laws. This session will explore how sick time obligations differ from traditional PTO, how flexible PTO structures interact with statutory sick leave, and what employers must track, even when they offer unlimited or high-flexibility time off programs. Attendees will receive a practical comparison of key sick leave jurisdictions and actionable guidance on implementing policies that remain compliant, consistent, and easy for managers to administer.

• 11:15 a.m. No Cap: Managing Multi-Generational Employees Without Getting Sued | Brendan Feheley
  Today’s workforce spans five generations, which can create challenges in communication, supervision, and performance management. Brendan will discuss how employers can support managers in leading diverse teams while maintaining consistent expectations. The session will include approaches for handling performance issues, strengthening documentation practices, and succession planning.
