Join Kegler Brown's Workers' Compensation team on Thursday, November 12, for a free, half-day seminar that will provide topical tips and trends for employers. Starting at 8:30 a.m., topics this year include an OSHA overview, the impact of potential marijuana legalization, drug testing, voluntary abandonment and Medicare set-asides.

A continental breakfast and boxed lunch will be provided to all guests.

8:30 a.m. – Workplace Safety + OSHA: You'll Shoot Your Eye Out!; Brendan Feheley

Brendan will examine OSHA regulations and will discuss what constitutes recordable injuries, when injuries need to be reported and how to file proper incident documents.

9:05 a.m. - Hazed + Confused: The Impact of Marijuana Legalization; Tony Fiore

In today’s political environment, marijuana legalization is an important topic that brings changes to workplace policies. Tony will discuss what the November ballot decision means for employers.

9:40 a.m. – Drug Testing 101; Dave McCarty

Dave will discuss the ins and outs of drug testing, including common mistakes employers make, laws to remember and best practices to follow.

10:15 a.m. - Break

10:30 a.m. - Fired Up: Evolving Trends in Voluntary Abandonment; Randall W. Mikes

Randy will examine the evolution of the voluntary abandonment defense to compensation and current trends in its application.

11:10 p.m. - Medicare Set Asides; John Cattie

John, the Medicare Secondary Payer subject matter expert for Garretson Resolution Group, will provide an update on the recent changes to the requirements for a Medicare set asides and will examine if employers have liability for MSAs.
