2025 Ethics Symposium: AI + the Legal Industry
Over a three-day span in October 2025, Chris Weber and Nick Bobb presented Kegler Brown’s annual Ethics Symposium, “AI + the Legal Industry,” to attorneys across Ohio. Hosted by the Columbus Bar Association, the Cleveland State University College of Law Alumni Association, and the Toledo Bar Association, the program explored how artificial intelligence is reshaping legal practice and what that means for ethical obligations.
Their presentations examined recent disciplinary rulings, emerging AI technologies like large language models and generative tools, and the ethical risks lawyers face when incorporating AI into client work. Topics included confidentiality, informed consent, billing practices, and the dangers of relying on AI-generated citations. Through real-world case studies and practical guidance, the program sparked thoughtful conversations about how attorneys can navigate this evolving landscape responsibly.
