Kegler Brown Welcomes Corporate Associate Jim McGibbon
Kegler Brown has added Jim McGibbon as an Associate in our Corporate area, bolstering the firm’s capabilities in emerging business representation, M+A, and private company financings.
Jim adds to the team his considerable experience representing emerging and established businesses in mergers and acquisitions, contract negotiation, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance matters. This includes leading buy-side and sell-side transactions from initial due diligence through closing – counseling clients on asset purchases, stock purchases, mergers, and operating agreements designed to support business growth and long-term value creation.
“As a member of our corporate team, Jim adds meaningful depth to our transactional capabilities,” said Steve Barsotti, Kegler Brown’s managing director and Emerging Business chair. “His ability to guide clients through every stage of the business lifecycle – from formation and early-stage financing to recapitalization and exit – makes him an excellent fit for our clients and our firm.”
Jim’s practice spans emerging business and private company representation, where he works closely with founders, boards, and investors on entity structuring, venture-stage financings, acquisition financings, and growth capital raises. He also has extensive experience collaborating with private equity sponsors, portfolio companies, and founder-led businesses, negotiating transaction terms that align legal considerations with practical business goals.
In addition, Jim counsels clients on M+A transactions – with particular experience in regulated industries such as healthcare and financial services – coordinating regulatory filings, managing diligence teams, and helping clients navigate post-closing operational and compliance considerations.
Jim earned his Juris Doctor from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of St. Thomas.
