Steve offers his real estate development clients a wealth of experience in navigating complex financing strategies and related transactions. He leads the firm’s Affordable Housing practice and leverages his profound knowledge of LIHTC, TIF, PACE, and other tax-advantaged financing tools to assist affordable housing developers in advancing critical projects in Ohio.

In recognition of his dedication to client service and leadership in Ohio’s real estate dealmaking ecosystem, Steve has been recognized as an “Ohio Rising Star” by Super Lawyers and is listed as “One to Watch” by The Best Lawyers in America.

Real Estate Finance + Development

Steve advises investors, developers, and lenders in a wide variety of real estate and debt finance-based transactions. His real estate practice is primarily focused on acquisitions, dispositions, and financings of multi-family apartment complexes, commercial buildings, and affordable housing developments, and his debt finance practice is primarily focused on construction loans, permanent loans, revolving lines of credit, and various other credit facilities.

Affordable Housing

Steve also guides developers and non-profits through the various stages of acquiring and financing affordable housing and taking advantage of the low-income housing tax credit program and works directly with several state and federal agencies in doing so. In his representation of these clients, Steve will draft, negotiate, and interpret definitive documents including purchase and sale agreements, operating agreements, loan documents, conveyance documents, security instruments, legal opinions, closing documents and commercial leases.

Steve also provides counsel to both borrowers and banks on a variety of real estate due diligence matters involving title insurance, surveys, environmental matters, and various pieces of corporate due diligence.
