Columbus Business First announced its inaugural “Women of Influence” class for 2023, which represents Central Ohio businesswomen who are impacting their organizations, bettering their communities by giving back, and helping foster the next generation of leaders by acting as advisers and mentors.

Vinita Mehra, a director at Kegler Brown and chair of its vaunted global business practice, was among those selected.

For more than four years, Columbus Business First has regularly featured the region’s most powerful female business leaders on its “Women of Influence” podcast, which saw its reach expanded this year through the establishment of the accompanying awards program. The honorees, comprising mentors, rising stars, and influential community voices, lead businesses and nonprofits and effect meaningful change in their organizations.

The selection committee reviewed more than 120 nominations in the awards program's inaugural year. There were ultimately 27 women selected under various categories, including Businesswoman of the Year, Community Champion, Entrepreneur, Mentor, Nonprofit Leader, Trailblazer, and Rising Star.

“We are thrilled that Vinita was honored as part of the trailblazer category,” said Chris Weber, Kegler Brown’s managing director. “Through will and hard work, Vinita has restarted and crafted from scratch a successful career that demonstrates her intelligence and drive, and creates opportunities for others, both colleagues and community members. She is an excellent example of what we should consider progressive. She has the mindset that true success means not only overcoming your own challenges, but also helping those around you overcome theirs.”

The Columbus Business First inaugural class of Women of Influence honorees will be recognized at an awards reception on Wednesday, July 12, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Westin Great Southern Hotel.
