Kegler Brown is pleased to announce that firm leader and director Vinita Mehra has been elected to serve on the board of directors for The Forum on Education Abroad, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, membership association recognized by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission as the Standards Development Organization (SDO) for the field of education abroad.

Vinita will serve a three-year term on The Forum's Board of Directors which provides strategic leadership and governance to the organization. Vinita stands as a distinguished member among a select panel of fifteen board members, a cohort comprised of influential leaders across the realm of higher education.

“Vinita’s extensive experience working with universities across the U.S. and around the world has benefitted thousands of students who are able to participate in high quality education abroad programs because of her efforts,” said Melissa Torres, President & CEO of The Forum. “Her election to the Board was unanimously and enthusiastically approved by the entire Board and I am certain our Members will benefit from her strategic approach to shaping international relationships as our field emerges from the pandemic.”

The Forum provides training and resources to education abroad professionals and its Standards of Good Practice are recognized as the definitive means by which the quality of education abroad programs may be judged. The Forum’s mission is to cultivate educators who champion high quality education abroad experiences that ignite curiosity, impact lives, and contribute to a better world.

The Forum’s institutional members include over 750 U.S. colleges and universities, overseas institutions, consortia, agencies, organizations, and foundations who are committed to improving education abroad. Under the strategic leadership of the Board of Directors, the Forum staff develops and manages member programs, resources, services, and benefits. The Forum Council represents the interests of the Forum membership, communicates the needs of the field, and works collaboratively with Forum staff to assess and move initiatives forward. The Forum relies heavily on the expertise of colleagues in and outside of the education abroad field, and much of The Forum’s work is accomplished through the support of committees, working groups, facilitators, assessors, reviewers, and volunteers.

Vinita is the leader of Kegler Brown’s Global Education practice. Vinita has more than twenty years of experience practicing law and is licensed to practice both in India and in the United States. She has led dozens of education projects of all types for institutions across the country doing business in nearly twenty of the world’s leading markets. Her work is heavily focused on representing U.S.-based colleges and universities, both public and private, in establishing and expanding operations globally.
