Change Orders, Claims & Disputes: “Star Wars” in the Construction Industry
The “Dark Side” is drifting increasingly toward one-sided contract documents and using leverage created by the economic downturn to seize advantage. This seminar will focus on how to protect yourself from these risks and maximize the chance to be paid for your work. Attendees will be provided legal weapons to fight back and learn about:
- Unresolved change orders & claims and how to get paid for them
- Proper notice to protect the contractor
- New time requirements for submitting claims
- Avoiding overly broad payment releases or change orders
- Benefits of the Fairness in Construction Contracting Act
A hot breakfast will be provided for all attendees. An information packet and flash drive containing reference materials for each of the topics presented will be given to each attendee. This event is limited to the first 25 individual registrants.
