Luis Alcalde Elected to the Columbus Medical Association Foundation’s Board of Directors

Kegler Brown is delighted to announce that firm director, Luis Alcalde, has been elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Columbus Medical Association Foundation (CMAF).

Established in 1958 by central Ohio physicians as a health education foundation, CMAF has evolved over the years into one of the most impactful grantmaking foundations dedicated to health and wellness initiatives in the United States. Since 1992, CMAF has distributed over $40 million in grants to more than 400 local nonprofit organizations.

During the mid-2000s, CMAF shifted from a reactive foundation to a proactive agent of transformation, prioritizing initiatives for positive healthcare change. In 2009, they cemented five core priorities, including clinical healthcare enhancement, support for underserved populations, trauma care coordination, physician empowerment for better patient relationships, and youth engagement in health philanthropy. These priorities underscore CMAF's unwavering commitment to improving healthcare and community well-being. Additionally, CMAF ventured into Development and Fundraising in the late 1990s, enabling individuals and organizations to contribute to community health improvement, serving as a conduit for those supporting CMAF's priorities or specific healthcare interests.

“We are thrilled to welcome Mr. Alcalde to the CMAF Board of Directors,” says Board President, Marc Parnes, MD. “His extensive experience in the legal arena, along with a longstanding commitment to equity and access to healthcare not only for our local community but also among international communities, will help to advance our funding priorities and program initiatives.”

Luis Alcalde, a seasoned legal practitioner with over 40 years of experience, brings a wealth of knowledge to the CMAF Board of Directors. His background includes extensive expertise in complex civil and criminal litigation, corporate investigations, business, international transactions, and entrepreneurship. Luis's appointment reflects the Foundation's commitment to welcoming diverse perspectives and expertise as they continue to drive meaningful change in the field of healthcare and wellness.
