Kegler Brown Attorney Coaches Moritz Negotiation Team to National Competition
Kegler Brown attorney Abby Counts coached The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law’s competitive negotiation team to national success this year, culminating in a National Semifinalist finish at the ABA Negotiation Competition in Chicago.
Counts, a Moritz alumna who previously competed on the negotiation team as a student, returned to her alma mater during the 2025 fall semester to serve as the team’s coach. Under her guidance, two Moritz teams – Mia Citino and Madeleine Britto (Madeleine will join Kegler Brown as a 2026 summer associate) and Kelly Adams and Ethan Bowers – began their journey to Nationals by competing at the ABA Regional Negotiation Competition in Baltimore hosted by the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law.
Both teams delivered standout performances, with Adams and Bowers advancing from the Regionals to the national stage in January. At Nationals, the pair competed as one of 28 teams from law schools across the country and secured a spot as one of the top 4 teams, finishing as semifinalists.
Counts credited the team’s strong showing to rigorous preparation and the support of several contributors, including Bill Froehlich, Madeleine Britto, and Mia Citino, who helped the competitors get ready for the national rounds.
“We had a great time at Nationals, learned so much from the other teams, and were grateful that it was about 10 degrees warmer in Chicago than it was in Ohio,” Counts said.
Kegler Brown is proud to celebrate Counts’ achievement as a coach and mentor, and to support the next generation of legal talent emerging from Moritz.
