9:00 - 10:30 a.m. | Panel Discussion/Q+A
With every presidential administration, there’s an impact on how to run your business and work with your employees – this administration is no different. You’re cordially invited to a special breakfast panel discussion on the significant changes to employment law and policies with the new administration. Within 48 hours of taking office, President Trump has issued numerous executive orders; we will discuss what they mean and how employers can practically strategize to be best prepared.
What We'll Cover
- Navigating Immigration Changes for Employers: Explore key impacts of executive orders issued by the Trump administration in the early weeks of his presidency on immigration law and policy. Gain insights into the effects on border security and individuals without legal status, focusing on the administration's approach to enforcement. Delve into the implications for employment-based visas and the broader impact on immigration compliance and global mobility, emphasizing worksite enforcement.
- Executive Order “Ending Illegal Discrimination and Restoring Merit-Based Opportunity.” What does this mean for DEI and hiring? President Trump revoked Executive Order 11246, which allowed for certain hiring preferences and considerations and removed any obligations around affirmative action plans. We will explain what “merit-based” hiring means. The panel will discuss the effects on government contractors.
- Executive Order “Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government.” This executive order redefines “sex” for all executive agencies. We’ll dive into the new definitions and explore implications for private employers in terms of hiring, facilities, discrimination and harassment complaints, pending charges and lawsuits, and beyond.
- Other updates: Given the volume of Executive Orders enacted in the first few days of this administration, we imagine there will be several more changes by the time of this event. The panel will also cover those changes.
