Contract Creation + Core Considerations
On January 13, Vinita presented as part of a NACUA webinar: All Around the World: International Contracts in Higher Education. This event focused on international contracts as both an enabler of global education programs, operations, and research collaborations, but also a challenge and source of risk for college and university counsel.
Joined by Dr. David Di Maria, University of Maryland, Baltimore County Vice Provost for Global Engagement, and Michael R. Pfahl, Vice President, Legal and General Counsel for Relay Graduate School of Education, Vinita gave an in-depth look at common terms found in agreements with foreign parties and their associated risks, discussing IP, data privacy, indemnities, compliance, and more.
The webinar also featured a roundtable-style discussion between the presenters as they examined a case study exemplifying an overseas collaboration and the legal issues related to initiation, model expansion, online course operation, and funding.
