Kegler Brown’s annual seminar on professional responsibility will take place on Friday, October 13, at the Sheraton Columbus Hotel at Capitol Square. Join us, starting at 8:30 a.m., for this well-regarded half-day seminar focused on providing Ohio’s lawyers and judges with timely information regarding ethics and professionalism.

9:00 a.m. – Recent Developments in Legal Ethics

This segment will cover recent ethics developments in advertising, soliciting clients, business relationships with clients, reporting misconduct and IOLTAs. Recent ethics opinions, as well as recent Supreme Court of Ohio decisions, will be discussed.

9:45 a.m. – Let’s Call the Bar Association

Lori will identify and explain some of the key differences between the Office of Disciplinary Counsel and a Certified Grievance Committee in the investigation of grievances against lawyers and the prosecution of attorney discipline cases, with consideration to the application of the Rules for the Government of the Bar and the Rules of Professional Conduct in deciding which cases to pursue as a Certified Grievance Committee.

Chris will discuss practical steps lawyers can take to help navigate the traps that exist in the everyday practice of law.

Jason will lead a discussion on the ethical concerns associated with lawyer’s use of various social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and the like).
