Capital University Law School

Presenting to the Capital University Law School on April 4, 2018, this seminar on professional responsibility featured Jason Beehler discussing issues surrounding counseling clients with diminished capacity, using the recent publication of Go Set A Watchman as an example. Jon Coughlan updated those in attendance with recent ethics opinions, including when lawyers have a duty to report misconduct, complex issues regarding conflicts of interest, and proper management of trust accounts, and standards for maintaining client confidentiality. Then, Jon moderated a panel discussion where Jason was joined by Don Scheetz, Assistant Disciplinary Counsel at the Office of Disciplinary Counsel for the Supreme Court of Ohio, and Alvin Mathews of James E. Arnold & Associates, and discussed topics including engagement letters, agreements, and more.
