New OSHA Poster Outlines Additional Reporting Requirements for Employers
Kegler Brown E-mployment Alert June 8, 2015
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has issued new posters, which are now required in the workplace; these revised posters incorporate the new reporting obligations for employers. Previously, employers were required to report to OSHA any fatality and any incident that resulted in the hospitalization of three or more employees. The new poster continues to publicize those obligations, but also adds several new reporting obligations that include any:
- Work-related hospitalizations of one or more employees
- Work-related amputation
- Work-related loss of an eye
Additionally, fatalities must be reported within eight hours and other reportable incidents must be reported within twenty‑four hours.
Failure to have the correct poster displayed could result in an OSHA citation.
