New Kegler Brown Practice Co-Chair is Certified Privacy ProfessionalFebruary 12, 2020
As a native of Germany, Katja received her J.D equivalent from Juristische Fakultät (law school) University of Passau (class of 2011), Germany, and her LL.M. with a concentration in business law from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 2012.
Earning the CIPP/E designation signifies Katja’s comprehensive knowledge of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and her ongoing effort to maintain a current understanding and perspective on data protection laws and cross-border privacy issues throughout Europe and its impacts on U.S. clients.
As part of her work with the firm’s Privacy + Data Security area, Katja helps businesses efficiently operationalize U.S. and global privacy requirements, including the requirements of the GDPR and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). She regularly works with both domestic and international companies to create and review policies and processes, training programs, and negotiate vendor and customer agreements.
“Katja has always been an excellent lawyer. Our practice area will benefit from her leadership,” says Privacy + Data Security Co-Chair David Wilson. “Her understanding of European and other privacy regulations is invaluable to our clients.”
Since joining Kegler Brown in 2013, Katja has focused her practice predominantly in the firm’s Global Business, Corporate, and M+A, practices where she assists business clients with issues related to formation and organization, entity structuring, risk management, and commercial agreements.
