Madigan Selected to Lead Kegler Brown’s Construction Law Practice

Kegler Brown is pleased to announce that Mike Madigan has been selected to serve as chair of the firm’s heralded Construction Law practice.

“I’ve had the good fortune of practicing law with Mike for 20 years,” said Steve Barsotti, the firm’s managing director. “His colleagues and I know him not only for his dedication to the construction industry and to his clients, but also for his commitment to the people at our firm and his capacity for leadership. He embodies our cultural blueprint.”

In 20 years as a construction lawyer, Madigan has become one of the most highly regarded construction attorneys in Ohio, acting as counsel on many of the state’s largest construction projects on behalf of the industry’s most highly visible contractors, subcontractors, and project owners.

His decades-long career in construction law has been consistently lauded for excellence in the profession, garnering peer-review praise from the industry’s most respected publications. He has been honored by The Best Lawyers in America for ten straight years, including recent distinction from the publication as the “Lawyer of the Year” in Columbus for construction law. Mike also holds a prestigious Band 3 ranking from Chambers USA, which cites clients highlighting his “steady, diligent work ethic” and celebrating him as “an excellent construction trial lawyer.” In honor of his service to the local construction community, the Builders Exchange of Central Ohio presented Madigan with its Presidents Award in 2020.

Don Gregory expressed his gratitude for Madigan’s dedicated service. “Recruiting Mike out of law school was one of the easiest and best decisions we’ve made,” Gregory said, “and watching him build his law practice has been incredibly fulfilling.” Gregory continued, “His thoughtful approach to client service and practical advice have made him an invaluable resource to our clients. I’m excited for this new chapter in his career.”

After five years running projects for a Top 10 ENR Contractor, Madigan attended the Cleveland State University College of Law before joining Kegler Brown in 2005 and later earning a designation as a LEED Accredited professional from the U.S. Green Building Council.
