Kegler Brown Selects New IP Co-Chairs

Kegler Brown is pleased to share that Lorraine Hernández and Jeff Nein have been selected to serve as Co-Chairs of the firm’s Intellectual Property practice area.

Lorraine Hernández counsels clients in all aspects of IP law, and her experience includes patent drafting and prosecution, patent portfolio strategy, patent and trademark infringement analysis, and copyright and licensing matters. Lorraine also has a noteworthy background in chemistry, having worked in the pharmaceutical industry as an analytical chemist in quality control and research and development. She joined Kegler Brown in 2016.

Jeff Nein joined Kegler Brown in 2012, but, including his time as part of the firm’s summer associate program, has been with the firm for a decade. He counsels his clients on comprehensive IP strategy, focusing his practice on identifying and protecting clients’ intellectual property interests through market analysis and planning, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets and licensing agreements, as well as appropriate enforcement measures and defensive actions. Jeff also counsels clients on advertising strategies that help to avoid intellectual property pitfalls and undesired attention of governmental authorities, both domestically and internationally.

Both Lorraine and Jeff also provide clients with guidance on issues related to product labeling requirements, social media and endorsement policies, advertising strategy and more.

“Lorraine and Jeff are excellent attorneys, and the firm is excited for them to take on these new roles,” says Rob Schuler, the IP area’s previous Chair. “They have been essential members of our IP team for several years now and are natural choices to lead the practice.”

Lorraine and Jeff will lead an Intellectual Property practice that serves clients ranging from start-ups and family-owned businesses to established, international corporations. With services that include IP strategies, licensing, and patent, copyright, and trademark protection, Kegler Brown’s IP team also supports clients from a diverse scope of industries, including universities, manufacturers, software and IT businesses, ad agencies, retailers, restaurants and more.
