Kegler Brown Celebrates Diwali with Festive LuncheonNovember 13, 2012
This year, Kegler Brown celebrated Diwali, the Hindu New Year, by partnering with U.S. – India Business Council (USIBC) to host a luncheon recognizing the collaborative relationship between Ohio and India businesses.
Ron Somers, president of USIBC, was the keynote and he explored the India’s growing economy, the continuous evolution of the country’s business interests in Ohio, and the collaboration of local organizations to encourage mutual investment.
More than 80 attendees dined on a traditional Indian meal while they listened to Somers, as well as Commerce Minister Vinay Kwatra from the Embassy of India in Washington D.C. and Martha Gabrielse, vice president of JPMorgan Chase on the international banking team. All presenters agreed that the collaboration between Ohio and India businesses is essential, mutually beneficial and progressively growing.
Kegler Brown would like to thank the following champions of global growth who partnered with us for this event in the spirit of Diwali: Asian Indian American Business Group, Columbus 2020!, Columbus Council on World Affairs, Columbus Sister Cities International, Federation of Indian Associations, JobsOhio, JPMorgan Chase, and the Ohio Development Services Agency.
Deepavali, or Diwali, is a multi-day festival where the people of India and of Indian decent light earthen ‘diyas’ (lamps), decorate their houses, and welcome family and friends to their homes for feasting. The lighting of lamps is a way of being thankful for health, wealth, knowledge, peace, valor and fame during this celebration of the Hindu New Year. The light is a metaphor for knowledge and its glow represents a welcoming of illumination, prosperity, health and happiness.
