Gleaves, Garvey Lead Kegler Brown’s Women Lawyer’s Initiative

Litigation associate Jane Gleaves and business associate Katja Garvey have each taken on the role of co-chair of the firm’s Women Lawyer’s Initiative (WLI).

Jane has been a member of Kegler Brown’s litigation practice since 2016 and was a summer associate from 2014-2015. Despite being new to practicing law, she says she already sees the WLI having a positive impact, and that “the WLI’s purpose is to support and encourage other lawyers, and I’m very proud to be a part of this group.”

Katja, who has been with the firm since 2013 and focuses on both domestic and international M+A, agreed, “It is very beneficial to the firm to have young attorneys take on leadership roles. Not only is there so much to be learned from the responsibilities, but having a sense of purpose and belonging early on is important for building a strong career.”

Katja added, “It meant a great deal to me that one of the firm’s largest committees was focused on the promotion of female lawyers, as women are often an underrepresented group in the legal profession.”

“We have a lot planned for this year,” Jane said. “With professional development opportunities, best practices for business development, outside speakers and client events around the holidays, the WLI is an active part of the firm’s life.”
