Columbus Attorney to Receive Hispanic National Bar Association Region X Award

Columbus attorney Luis M. Alcalde, Kegler Brown Hill + Ritter, has been selected to receive the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA) 2015 Region X President Award. The award recognizes those “change agents of diversity in the community” of Kentucky, Ohio and Tennessee. Alcalde will receive the award at the HNBA Gala Dinner, October 22, 2015 in Columbus, OH.

Alcalde joined the Columbus law firm of Kegler Brown Hill + Ritter in 2011. He has a deep and varied legal background including global business, international investigations and complex civil and criminal litigation. Born in Havana, Cuba and a native Spanish speaker, Alcalde holds both American and Cuban citizenship. Alcalde leads the firm’s Latin America and Cuba practices. He represents U.S. clients entering the Latin American market and Latin American clients entering the U.S. market. He has worked with U.S., European and Latin American clients on a variety of business matters involving Cuba including exports, manufacturing, energy, education and the arts. He represents U.S. and foreign clients in complex litigation matters.

Practicing law for more than 35 years in central Ohio, Alcalde has mentored many HNBA Region X members and championed the uniqueness and talents that multicultural Hispanic and Latino lawyers bring to the legal profession. Among his many community activities, he has served as Chairman of the Board of the Columbus Council on World Affairs and on the boards of CAPA (Columbus Association for the Performing Arts), The Ohio Supreme Court’s Client Security Fund and Otterbein University.

The HNBA honors Alcalde and his exceptional commitment and dedication to the Hispanic culture and professionals. He has been a contagious inspiration with his involvement and contributions.
