Global Employment Issues

Ohio Attorney General’s Conference on International Students and Workforce

On September 28, 2018, Vinita joined the Ohio Attorney General’s Conference on International Students and Workforce, a conference intended to provide a comprehensive overview of employment-based immigration operations, policies, and practices at Ohio’s public colleges and universities. The presenters, including Vinita, shared practical guidance on developing immigration procedures, best practices for filing nonimmigrant and immigrant petitions, programs for international students and exchange visitors, and common employer-compliance issues.

Vinita’s presentation detailed various forms U.S. universities are taking in foreign countries, such as brick and mortar operations, distance learning arrangements and more, and examined common threads that run between all the different structures. Before discussing compliance, she also examined two structures of global employment issues in order to explore key issues in employing foreign nationals overseas and U.S. employees working abroad.
