President Obama announced on July 1, 2015 that the U.S. will reopen its embassy in Cuba, and in turn Cuba will open its embassy in Washington D.C. While the trade embargo is still in action, the two countries are trying to normalize their relationship. The U.S. closed its embassy in Havana more than 54 years ago.
