Kegler Brown Attorneys Honored in Chambers USA 2018 Rankings

The annual release of new rankings by Chambers USA saw one of the premier guides to legal resources once again honoring many Kegler Brown Hill + Ritter attorneys.

Litigator Thomas W. Hill and Don Gregory, chair of the firm’s Construction practice, both maintained their prestigious “Band 1” rankings.

Tom is one of only seven commercial litigators in Ohio with this rank, while Don remains one of only four construction lawyers to receive the honor.

Allen Handlan received two rankings, earning a “Band 3” Ranking in Banking + Finance and “Band 4” in Real Estate.

Michael Madigan has been listed in previous years as “Up and Coming,” but this year raised his ranking to a “Band 4” in Construction.

Brendan Feheley and Vinita Mehra were all listed as “Up + Coming” attorneys.

Overall, seventeen Kegler Brown attorneys were recognized with eighteen rankings, along with five practice areas.

Chambers & Partners is an independent company that awards rankings to practice areas and attorneys in Ohio, nationally and internationally. The objective process follows three steps: submissions put forward by legal practices, interviews during the course of research, and Chambers’ own database resources. Only select attorneys and practice areas are ranked in bands from 1-6, with 1 being the best. The following attorneys received a ranking of “Band 1” by Chambers USA 2018:

Donald Gregory (Construction) is a highly experienced construction attorney who is noted for his handling of the full range of contentious and noncontentious matters, including bidding and contractual matters, insurance issues and litigation and arbitration. He is widely considered to be among Ohio's leading practitioners in this space.

Thomas Hill (Litigation) offers keen insights and outstanding representation in a high-value commercial disputes, calling upon a long track record of success in the area. His wide-ranging practice encompasses intellectual property, securities and employment litigation.

Catherine Cunningham (Real Estate) is acknowledged for her representation of municipalities and townships regarding land use and zoning matters.

Scott Doran (Natural Resources + Environment) is noted for his handling of a broad range of contentious environmental matters, including enforcement defense and civil litigation. He is particularly noted by interviewees for his expertise in wetlands matters.

Larry Feheley (Labor + Employment) is known by one client to be " extremely knowledgeable and is able to successfully blend the letter of the law with keeping his clients' best interest in mind."

M+A co-chair Todd Kegler (Corporate/M+A) is a highly regarded transactional expert, with clients calling upon his keen insights in a broad array of M&A matters. He offers additional strengths in areas such as estate planning, tax law and wider corporate governance work.

Steve Barsotti (Intellectual Property) specializes in advising startups and emerging companies on IP licensing and protection matters. He also advises on venture and growth capital investment, labor issues and cross-border joint ventures.

Allen Handlan (Banking + Finance and Real Estate [Band 4]) is described by sources as "an experienced attorney who is very much a deal-maker." His real estate practice is focused on transactions and financings pertaining to a broad range of commercial projects, including hotels, shopping malls and multifamily residential developments. He is commended for his expertise in commercial and real estate transaction financing, with complementary expertise in M&A.

Chuck Kegler (Corporate/M+A) has significant experience in the corporate and M&A sphere, where he acts for corporate clients and private equity investors. His practice also features strengths in tax matters and succession planning.
