Tim has handled a high volume of diverse and complex personal injury cases from both the plaintiff and defense perspectives, which gives him a unique insight into what both parties are thinking when mediating cases. He has been involved in hundreds of mediations and recognizes that a good mediator must understand the facts, the likely jury verdict and the personalities involved. As an active participant and leader of numerous mediation-related courses, he also knows that a good mediator is not a "numbers runner."
Tim has tried dozens of jury cases in counties throughout Ohio and he has a 24-year history representing a major medical center in cases involving nearly every aspect of medical care, including birth trauma, anesthesia, failure to diagnose and surgical error. He has also represented major insurance companies in the defense of car, truck, motorcycle and bicycle accidents, as well as intentional tort and product liability cases. His experience includes a deep-rooted familiarity with subrogation issues, specifically including Medicare and Medicaid.
Over the past 15 years, Tim's practice has evolved and, in addition to defense work, he now handles a large volume of plaintiff cases, including medical malpractice, wrongful death and significant injuries resulting from motor vehicle accidents. Tim has received verdicts and/or settlements in excess of a million dollars on dozens of occasions and recently received a multi-million-dollar jury verdict in Hamilton County for a bicycle accident. Notably, Tim also received the largest verdict in the history of Franklin County at the time for a car accident.
Tim is a long-time of member of the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, which is a collection of the most prestigious and accomplished trial lawyers in the United States; membership is limited to attorneys who have won million-dollar and multi-million-dollar verdicts and settlements. He has been consistently recognized in The Best Lawyers in America® and has been selected as an Ohio Super Lawyer® by Law & Politics magazine every year since 2003. He has also been recognized by Columbus CEO magazine as a “Top Lawyer,” by American Lawyer Media as a “Top Rated Midwest Lawyer,” and holds a coveted “AV Preeminent” rating from Martindale-Hubbell, one of the profession’s oldest and most respected peer review services.
