Multi-Prime System Under Siege

Kegler Brown Construction Newsletter

State Representative Gene Krebs in House Bill 169 has proposed the abolition of Ohio's obligatory multi-prime contracting system on state work. This legislation has been supported by AGC and opposed by MCA, NECA and other organizations. It is uncertain whether the bill in its present form will pass, but at a minimum it appears likely that the State and Universities will obtain the right to request bids from both the single and multi-prime methods and go with the most cost-effective approach. This legislation could radically change the way public works projects in Ohio are bid and constructed.
