Minimum Wage to Increase January 1

The minimum wage in Ohio will increase on January 1, 2013. The current minimum wage is $7.70/hour, and it will increase to $7.85/hour, based on a Consumer Price Index increase of 1.7% over the past year.
The state minimum wage law applies to all businesses that have gross receipts in 2013 of more than $288,000 per year (currently, $283,000/year). For employers with tipped employees, the new minimum wage rate is $3.93/hour (plus tips).
For those employers whose annual gross receipts will be less than $288,000, and for wages paid to employees aged 14 and 15, the federal minimum wage applies. The federal minimum wage is $7.25/hour.
