Do You Have the New I-9 Forms?

By Lawrence F. Feheley

Feheley photoThe Federal Immigration Service has issued a new I-9 form. All employers are to start using the new form by December 26, 2007, for new hires or employment re verifications.

One change is that unless the employer participates in the E-Verify program, the employee is not required to provide their social security number. The new form also revises some of the acceptable and unacceptable supporting documents.

The new form and instructions can be found at http://www.uscis.gov/i-9.
