Employees in California?  You Probably Need Sexual Harassment Training

By Lawrence F. Feheley

While we have long recommended harassment prevention training, California has a new law which requires employers to provide sexual harassment training. The law was enacted about a year ago, but the regulations which implement the law took effect February 1. The law applies to any employer who has more than 50 employees, as long as at least one supervisor is based in California. Under the law, anyone in a supervisory position in California must receive at least two hours of training within six months of being hired or promoted, and the training must then be repeated once every two years. The new regulations provide details on the specific training requirements.

If you have a supervisor in California, be sure you are complying with the new law.
