BrewZaa Restaurant Finds New Owners

Mikey’s Late Night Slice, a popular pizzeria + bar in the Short North and downtown, has purchased BrewZaa, a sports beer hall located in a retail strip center anchored by a Kroger Marketplace off Route 23 in Lewis Center.

Because of its location, BrewZaa will follow a different concept than Mikey’s Late Night Slice, and the new owners think there will be room in the market for five or six BrewZaas, hoping to expand to similar shopping centers around central Ohio.

Mikey’s Late Night Slice is one of many restaurants with a fast-casual concept that Kegler Brown works with.

“Local companies and restaurants are very important to Columbus,” says Apps Akpofure, a Kegler Brown business attorney involved with multiple aspects of the purchase. “Helping one expand is exciting, especially a brand as recognizable as Late Night Slice is downtown.”

Kegler Brown assisted Mikey’s Late Night Slice with nearly every aspect of buying BrewZaa, from preparing the main and ancillary purchase and sale agreements, to facilitating liquor licensure transfers and advising on real estate matters.

Kacie Davis, chair of Kegler Brown’s franchising + distribution practice, says “Acquiring BrewZaa was a multifaceted project, and we were happy to work with Mikey’s throughout the entire process. We pride ourselves on being able to assist our clients with any need they may have and see a complicated project through to completion.”

BrewZaa is located at 6477 Pullman Dr., Lewis Center, OH 43035.
