Kegler Brown Construction Practice and Attorneys
Among the Best, According to Chambers USA
June 1, 2003
Kegler, Brown, Hill & Ritter directors Donald
W. Gregory and Thomas
W. Hill have been selected for inclusion in the elite group
of 'America's Leading Business Lawyers' for 2003-2004 by Chambers
USA. In addition, the firm's construction law practice was also
named as a leader in Ohio.
Research acknowledged Gregory, who was awarded a ranking of two
by Chambers, as "a fine, hard-working lawyer" of considerable
experience. The directory notes that Kegler Brown's construction
law practice owes their strong tie to the American Subcontractors
Association (ASA) to the "straightforward and assertive" Gregory.
In addition, Gregory, the chair of the firm's construction law
practice, led the team that successfully acted for the ASA in a
case in Florida, which resolved the relationship between indemnity
and the duty to defend.
According to Chambers, opponents respect Kegler Brown director
Tom Hill as a "tenacious litigator." Hill, who also received
a ranking of two by Chambers, focuses his practice on complex commercial
litigation. Recently, he represented a mining company in a mining
rights dispute, and advised the plaintiff on a products liability
matter concerning powdered milk.
Additionally, Chambers says that Kegler Brown construction law
attorneys are known for their "fierce representation" and "competitive
bid work." The firm's construction law practice represents
all segments of the construction industry, but has many subcontractors
as clients. The directory also notes that the Kegler Brown is
respected for its work for institutional owners and that clients
are drawn largely from among national trade associations, including
the ASA, the National Ground Water Association and the Ceiling & Interior
Systems Construction Association.
According to Chambers and Partners, publishers of the annual
directory, attorneys are only included in the group of 'America's
Leading Business Lawyers,' if they are strongly recommended by
the market. Each year, a team of researchers from Chambers surveys
clients and lawyers across the U.S. to obtain a consistent market
view of which firms and attorneys are considered leaders in their
field.
Chamber's rankings of law firms and individual attorneys are
based on a scale of 1-6. The directory assesses rankings on the
qualities of technical legal ability, professional conduct, client
service, commercial awareness/astuteness, diligence, commitment,
and other qualities most valued by clients. The editorial comment
that Chambers includes is also derived from the research. Quotations
are used only when they sum up the prevailing opinion of the market.
The rankings and editorial comment about attorneys are independent
and objective.
