Biography

Kelly provides assistance to attorneys in several areas of the firm. She has experience in the Litigation and Creditors’ Rights + Bankruptcy areas, including work with insurance liquidation, collections, bankruptcy trustee matters, foreclosures and preference issues. Kelly also assists clients in the Government Affairs area with lobbyist registration and disclosure issues, liquor law matters, and eminent domain and annexation proceedings. Her global business experience includes assisting clients in the formation of liaison offices, subsidiaries and other strategic partnerships abroad.

Government Affairs

Kelly plays a key role in this practice, acting as a single point of contact for state agencies and commissions on all lobbyist and lobbyist employer/principal reporting and registration issues. She assists clients with all aspects of lobbying compliance, including: interpreting and communicating changes in lobbying laws; filing of required registrations and reports; maintaining constant communication with the lobbyist and employer/principal of approaching filing deadlines; and seeking clarification from state agencies and commissions regarding new and existing rules.

Kelly also provides support in eminent domain and annexation litigation proceedings. She assists clients in obtaining liquor permits and personally coordinates with the Ohio Department of Commerce Division of Liquor Control, and also provides assistance on appeal matters before the Liquor Control Commission.

Global Business

Assisting clients in gathering the documents required to establish a liaison office abroad, Kelly works with clients through the application process and coordinates with local authorities during the approval process to help businesses grow internationally.

Kelly supports clients with various post-licensure matters, including opening bank accounts, obtaining tax IDs and visa applications, and obtaining various other licenses required abroad.

Kelly is a graduate of Capital University Law School’s paralegal program and holds an undergraduate degree in psychology from The Ohio State University. In addition to her work at Kegler Brown, Kelly also has four years of experience working in corporate compliance for a mid-sized insurance company. She is an associate member of the Columbus Bar Association and Ohio State Bar Association and is active in the Paralegal Association of Central Ohio.
