RSS (Really Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary) is an XML-based format for sharing and distributing web content. Using an RSS reader, you can view headlines, summaries and links to full stories from www.keglerbrown.com, instead of having to periodically check our site for updates. Since news headlines come to you instead of the other way around, RSS is referred to as content distribution or syndication.

RSS Reader Programs

To get started, you'll need an RSS reader (also called a news aggregator) which will download and display web feeds for you. A number of free and commercial readers are available. Some suggestions include:

  • FeedDemon (Windows)
  • FeedReader (Windows)
  • NetNewsWire (Macintosh)
  • NewFire (Macintosh)
  • RSSOwl (Windows/Macintosh/Linux)
Web Browsers

Additionally, many current web browsers have built-in feed readers:

  • Mozilla Firefox (Windows/Macintosh/Linux)
  • Opera (Windows/Macintosh/Linux)
  • Apple Safari (Macintosh - included with Mac OS X v10.4)

Online RSS Readers

RSS feeds can also be added to popular online portals or dedicated RSS websites. These include:

  • My Yahoo!
  • NewsGator
  • My AOL (beta)
  • Google Reader (beta)

For an exhaustive list of reader options, see News of Feeds' list of news aggregators.
