What You Need to Know to Comply with S.B. 185

Tuesday, July 25  &  Wednesday, August 2, 2006
9:00 AM - 12:00 PM  •  Columbus, Ohio
Attend in person or via teleconferencing!

SECOND DATE ADDED!

Due to overwhelming response, a second seminar date has been
added on Wednesday, August 2. The original seminar on
Tuesday, July 25 is still available for teleconferencing only.

Will you be ready on January 1, 2007 when Senate Bill 185 (S.B. 185), also known as the Home Buyer's Protection Act, takes effect? The law, among the toughest in the nation, tightens Ohio's laws for mortgage brokers, loan officers and others.

The bill applies the Consumer Sales Practice Act (CSPA) to many residential lending transactions. Additionally, S.B. 185 gives the Attorney General the jurisdiction to investigate businesses involved in residential lending transactions and to enforce the CSPA against these businesses. Come hear what the CSPA is all about and prepare your business to comply.

Join Helen Mac Murray, a CSPA expert and former chief of the Attorney General's Consumer Protection Section on Tuesday, July 25th or Wednesday, August 2nd for an overview of what you need to know to comply with S.B. 185. The topics include:

  • Who does the CSPA apply to now?
  • What type of loans now fall under the CSPA?
  • What unfair and deceptive acts and practices does the law prohibit?
  • What unconscionable acts and practices are prohibited in a residential loan transaction?
  • What does it mean when the Attorney General investigates my company?
  • What damages can the Attorney General or a borrower now sue me for?
  • How can I best protect my business?

The seminar and continental breakfast are complimentary. Space is limited so please register early. Please click below to register. Special registration arrangements can also be made by contacting Erica DiLoretto (614) 462-5400.
