- Mr. Stern will give attendees an overview of recent case law and summarize the state of the profession for Ohio attorneys.
- 1:45-2:30pm
- Tips to Avoid Ethical Traps, Christopher Weber
- Mr. Weber will discuss a highlighted list of the common pitfalls that lawyers experience through the course of their practice. He will also be discussing the ethical considerations involved when interviewing or representing a client’s former employees.
- 2:45-3:45pm
- Professionalism Update: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, Rasheeda Khan & Geoffrey Stern
- Ms. Khan and Mr. Stern will be presenting on the importance of fulfilling your professional ideals, especially highlighting considerations for the departing lawyer. There will also be a discussion on the most recent updates regarding the emergence of social media as a method of communication, and the line that has been blurred, both personally and professionally.

- Substance Abuse, Carol Costa
- Ms. Costa, who currently serves as assistant disciplinary counsel, will give an overview of the substance abuse issues that face Ohio attorneys.
- 4:15-4:30pm
- Panel Discussion: A View from the Top: How to Handle an Investigation
- The presenters will take questions from the audience, specifically on the process of responding to grievances.
PRESENTERS
Geoffrey Stern
Served as Disciplinary Counsel of the Supreme Court of Ohio, as well as chair of the Ohio State Bar Association’s Committee on Legal Ethics and Professional Conduct. He heads the professional responsibility practice area at Kegler Brown and is a frequent speaker and expert witness on ethics/malpractice.
Christopher Weber
Focuses on trial and appellate advocacy in areas of professional responsibility, commercial litigation and corporate governance, and compliance law. He has tried and argued several disciplinary cases to successful conclusions and is a frequent speaker on disciplinary matters.
Rasheeda Khan
Focuses on trial and appellate advocacy in areas of commercial litigation, professional responsibility, and criminal defense. She has served as first and second chair on numerous hearings before the Board of Commissioners on Grievances and Discipline, the Board of Commissioners on Character and Fitness, and the Ohio Supreme Court.
Carol A. Costa
Practiced for several years with the law firm of Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs LLP. Eight years ago, she became Assistant Disciplinary Counsel and has tried and argued numerous disciplinary cases to the Board of Commissioners on Grievances and Discipline and to the Ohio Supreme Court.
