Legal Assistant for Government Relations Columbus
This position provides administrative and legal
secretarial support for the government affairs practice area. This candidate
will deal with a diverse group of important external callers and visitors as
well as internal contacts at all levels of the organization. Independent
judgment is required to plan, prioritize and organize diversified workload. The
candidate will coordinate and work with others to compile and disseminate
weekly legislative bulletin to area clients and prospective clients. They may
also be asked to attend legislative related functions. Qualified candidates
should have five years of experience as a legal secretary, two or more years of
experience with the State of Ohio Legislature and/or Government and a
familiarity with state and federal government, in particular the Ohio
legislative and executive agency processes. A bachelor’s degree is preferred
but not required.
The firm is searching for someone to work directly with attorneys to
strategize and coordinate approximately 65 events annually, including internal
and external seminars, meetings, conferences, briefings, webinars, etc. This responsibility
includes all related logistics- planning, payment reconciliation, registrant
communications, RSVPs, event technology and more. The successful candidate will
be responsible for providing direct support to attorneys and acting as a single
point of contact for implementing event and communication initiatives. Other
responsibilities include coordination of the firm’s marketing efforts more
generally. Qualified candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in marketing,
communications or a related field. Experience is a plus, but not required, as we
will gladly provide training. The successful candidate will be a self-starter
who can function on a team in a deadline-based environment, has excellent oral
and written skills, and demonstrates sound judgment and discretion. We’re also
